I am towing with a 2000 Ford F350 dually.  It is a 5 speed  manual.  I am having trouble with pilot bearings.  I had the tranny completely rebuilt and the pilot bearing went out in 13 K miles.  I had that one replaced and it went out yesterday on the way home from Myrtle Beach, SC.  This bearing only had about 1300 miles since it was put in.  I getting kinda expensive going to the shop after every trip, so to speak. Is anyone else having this problem???

I really like this old truck but am thinking about getting another one. Ive been thinking about one of the New Heavy Duty Dodges which suppose to have that new HD trannys like they put in the Dump trucks.   Anyone got an opinion on them??

Well I  guess the answer to my question is no body had ever had a problem with this.  You might figure I would be the only one.

Heck, I thought "Pilot Bearings" had to do with a pilot figuring out where he was so he could get where he wanted to go. Going to be going to my local Ford Dealer to pick up my expedition later this week. If I remember I'll ask my friends in the service department about them and see what they say. But at my age I may not remember.

Well my trans man called and said that he had to pull the trans.  He think a tooth has come off one of the gears.

Well, I got the word today.  I've got a tooth broke off the cluster gear.

Well, I own a Dodge 3500 and tried to pull with it and they won't hold up. Automatic transmission.

Got a Ford F-350 6 speed manual and they won't hold up.  Only got 20K on that trans since a complete rebuild

I guess I gonna have to try the Chev or GMC Duramax I know they got a good trans but lots of people have told me that the motor won't hold up.
I think someone told me to go with a 2006 or above.

Then there is the New Heavy Duty Dodge 2009 and above which suppose to have that new 6 speed automatic made in Germany.  The same ones they use in dump trucks.
